Dr. Katie P. Desiderio counts her blessings starting with the people in her life. She is a devoted wife, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, mentor, mentee, colleague, professor and mom to her two treasurers. She is among the 2% of the population known as an INFJ, according to the MBTI, and she embraces her top five Strengths Quest identifiers of empathy, ideation, learner, strategic, and individualization. Dr. Desiderio is a proud alumna of Wilkes University, where she earned her Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Business Administration (MBA) degrees, and of Barry University, where she earned a Doctorate in Organizational Learning and Leadership with a specialization in Human Resource Development (HRD). After working for several years in corporate marketing, Desiderio is excited to be able to share her knowledge and experiences with other curious teachers and learners in a second career where she serves as Associate Professor of Management and the first female chairperson of the Economics and Business Department at Moravian College.
Dr. Desiderio’s personal mission is grounded in her r2C model where she has devoted her work to recognize what she does, to reflect on how she does it, and to connect with why all of this matters; this model is delicately nurtured in the interplay of the teacher/learner dyad. Using the four principles of the FISH! Philosophy, Be There, Play, Make Their Day, and Choose Your Attitude, Katie lives life by celebrating each day with the extraordinary people around her. This inspires her to lead with a moral compass and to explore the vulnerability associated with growth while tickling the curiosities of others.
