Newton’s Law of Team Development

It’s been more than 350 years since renowned physicist Isaac Newton set forth the Laws of Team Development. What, you don’t believe Newton wrote those laws? Sure, he did. It’s so clear when you read them that you realize immediately what he was talking about. Let’s look at them:

  1. A body at rest remains at rest and a body in motion remains in motion unless acted upon by some other force.
  2. Force = Mass x Acceleration
  3. Every action creates an immediate and equal reaction.

Ok, so maybe he was talking about physics. But when it comes down to it, those same laws can be applied to team development.

Look at No. 1. Then look at the bodies in your office, plant or workspace. How many are “at rest” and how many are “in motion.” When you look at the ones “in motion,” are they moving in the right direction? That’s what team development does – it creates the force that acts upon those bodies and spurs them to move in the proper direction with coordination, communications and motivation.

Take No. 2: When you apply facilitated team development to your staff, it provides the acceleration to move them so they can accomplish great things – thus, the force that your company applies to the market is greatly increased and your sales and production skyrocket.

Finally, No. 3. Facilitated team development inspires an immediate and more than equal reaction when properly applied. Your team becomes more functional, employee happiness and satisfaction increases and profits improve.

Now, you don’t have to wait for an apple to fall on your noggin to gain from Newton’s inspirations. All you have to do is call Northstar Team Development. Our facilitators are standing by … just waiting for your call to spur them into action.
